Site Check Certification

Tell the world your website is on the cutting edge of accessibility!

What is the Site Check Certification Program?

CNIB’s Site Check Program is a unique and valued way to demonstrate your organization’s forward-thinking approach to barrier-free web design and your commitment to putting customers first.

How can I get the site check certification?

After undergoing a CNIB website audit and automated scan, you can receive a site check certification. The site check cannot be provided without an audit or automated scan. Organizations that choose to participate in the Site Check Program will have their website re-assessed by CNIB once the remediation requests have been addressed. Remediation recommendations are those that will make your site accessible and compliant with the internationally recognized W3C WCAG 2.0 guidelines levels A and AA as well as the Section 508 of the U.S. rehabilitation act.

Automated scans are completed using HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff which will provide the following:

  • Increase market share by making your website accessible to people with disabilities
  • Comply with federal and international accessibility guidelines for best practices
  • Avoid the risk of costly litigation, settlements and loss of business associated with inaccessibility
  • Accessibility Compliance and Reporting for:
    • Section 508
    • W3C WCAG 2.0
    • Common Look and Feel (CLF)
    • XML Accessibility Guidelines (XAG)
    • Any standard derived from WCAG or Section 508

Upon successful completion of the aforementioned, your organization will then qualify for CNIB’s exclusive Site Check certification mark on your website. CNIB will also list your company and logo on our website as a Site Check recipient.

CNIB Site Check Certification Process

CNIB Site Check only certifies the *Top Pages that were audited. The same pages will be reviewed annually only if the pages have been updated with new content or functionality.

*Top Pages: The customer will submit minimum 25 URL’s to most frequently visited pages based on website analytics.

Optional: The client has the option of choosing and submitting 50% of the pages to be audited.

To qualify for Site Check: The organization must remediate all high priority accessibility recommendations in the audit report and automated scan.

Guidelines: W3C WCAG 2.0 level A, AA Compliancy and Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act

Usability: CNIB testers will also conduct a usability report with screen magnifier and screen reader users.

Site Check Certification is renewable every year.
Audit / Usability review of only updated web pages in the original audit would be conducted before the renewal date.
